Once again, our baby's due date has come..... and gone (yesterday). :) As much as I HOPED Lila would surprise us with a slightly early entrance to our world, we are not surprised at all that we are still waiting.
There's not a LOT that's fun about waiting. I am very thankful it's not an issue of being terribly uncomfortable or not sleeping well or just too exhausted to feel like I can go on for 2 more weeks. I have friends who are miserable at the end of their pregnancies. I do not take for granted that I am trucking right along. It's not even not knowing WHICH day she'll come. It's wondering if *this* baby will break the streak and come with spontaneous labor. The silver lining of amusement comes at this point when people ask when I'm due, and I get to smile and say, "Yesterday," (or two days ago, or a week ago, etc.) and watch their reactions. You have to keep a sense of humor about you at this point! :)
I have an appointment tomorrow to check on Lila and me. We'll even have an ultrasound to check on her! I cannot wait to see her--and hopefully her sweet face! I am sooooo curious what she looks like--will she look like Asa? Anna Reaghan? A mix? Neither/some relative--which side of the family?? I know some sisters who looks JUST alike, some who look nothing alike, and some who look similar enough to know they are related. Which will our girls be?!? Will she have hair, and/or the trademark front cowlick swirl our other babies have?? At our anatomy scan around 20 weeks, she was measuring long (like Asa)--is she still? The main purpose of the ultrasound will be to check Lila's heart rate, (practice) breathing, movement, fluid levels, and the function of the placenta. But when we had them with Asa they estimated the baby's size, too.
Assuming all is well, we'll schedule another check up for next Wednesday with some extra ultrasounds in the coming week until then to keep close tabs on Lila if she extends her stay throughout the upcoming week.
I am at the point when my friends who are due right after me could deliver before me now--they are full time and it's just a waiting game for them as well. With Asa and Anna Reaghan, my friends due after me delivered before me pretty much across the board. So at least if that does happen again, I am used to being the "last one standing." lol :)
We certainly appreciate prayers as we wait--for Lila's health and mine. Our ultimate goal is a safe and healthy mom and baby, but secondarily we would love not to have to induce again this time. I am thankful the Lord knows and is in control!!
