Five on Friday

1.  We had a week that felt pretty busy (for us) by the end of it!  I officially passed Lila's due date (big surprise ;) ) at the beginning of the week.  I had a check up on Wednesday with an ultrasound to make sure she and I were in good shape to keep waiting for her.  Everything looked great except my amniotic fluid level was low.  We actually encountered the same issue at the same point in my pregnancy with Asa!  With him, all I needed to do was increase my water intake and my fluid levels came back up.  I knew I had not done well with water this week (my trusty, go-to 1 liter Camelbak was accidentally left in AR's diaper bag from Sunday after church until Tuesday night.... oops.  So I mostly just drank at meals and didn't have my water bottle with me to remind me to drink all throughout the day), so we were all hopeful drinking as much as possible for 24 hours would help.  I drank 8 liters of water in 24 hours and returned yesterday to check on her again.  Immediately big pockets of fluid showed on the ultrasound screen.  Even the tech commented, "Those were NOT there yesterday."  My midwife ran the results by her consulting OB just to make sure everyone was comfortable giving us more time, and everyone agreed we are good to wait it out until at least Monday.  On Monday I have another ultrasound (at that point I'll be a week past due--again, not new for ME--so they are keeping closer tabs and we'll have at least 2 ultrasounds/week until she comes or is evicted).  We are really praying I don't need that appointment Monday!  A weekend baby (or being in labor on Monday on my own) sounds GREAT!! :)  More good news is that I *am* progressing.  I have progressed enough that my midwife feels like we would not need to come in and do cervical ripening overnight if we have to induce.  We could just come in the morning and get things started and hopefully have a baby by dinner time.  My other labors have actually gone really fast once my body got the message it was time.  So hopefully IF it comes to that, whatever they decide is the best method to induce will communicate quickly and clearly that it's time and we'll have a baby shortly thereafter... and not have to wait until dinnertime. ;)

40 weeks +2 days :)

my trusty sidekick--the camelbak

We had snowman pancakes on Lila's due date to celebrate :)

2.  Asa had a fun week at school.  They have been doing activities centered around winter--winter animals, hibernation, ice, Jan Bret's book The Mitten, etc.  They tested how long it takes ice to melt to water and the volume of water that comes from melted ice.  They drove toy cars in "snow" and had a "snowball fight."  I love his teachers!! :)  Next week they are planning a pajama hibernation day complete with a pizza party!  I'm so thankful he's had a smooth transition back to school after Christmas break.

3.  I went to my moms' group on Tuesday which also meant Anna Reaghan got to play with friends in the nursery.  She always is SO excited to declare, "I wear MY bap-pack," after seeing Asa take his to school every week.  I am so thankful she enjoys it so much!  She's only there twice/month (moms' group and a Bible study), but thanks to wonderful teachers and usually being in the same classroom as she goes to for Sunday school, she is pretty much right at home.

4.  I made a list of things to grab for the hospital when it's time.  I've held off on actually packing a bag hoping Murphy's Law will come into effect and I'll need a bag since I don't have one actually packed. ;)  One thing on my list was to get my playlist onto a working device.  I made a labor playlist for AR, and it was amazing.  I was totally in the zone and don't even recall--at all--Matt's favorite nurse who attended to me because I was just in my old world rolling through the contractions.  The problem was was it's on my first generation ipod with a questionable battery.  Due to hard drive changes and all kinds of other things, I couldn't get the ipod to sync to my laptop (my plan was to get the playlist on my laptop and then sync that with my phone).  Matt brought our old desktop computer in for me (we haven't set it up anywhere, so it's been sitting in the garage), and it turned on--even though I couldn't find our keyboard!  I burned discs of the playlist and put them into itunes on my laptop.  Then I synced my phone--and we are all set!!  As one of my friends said, Lila can come now b/c we'll have some good tunes to welcome her.

5.  The other fun thing about my ipod adventure is I remembered hearing about a recall on some early ipods.  I googled a little bit and found that indeed, some first generation ipod nanos have been recalled.  I typed in my serial number, and mine is in the recall!  AR and I mailed it to Apple yesterday after taking Asa to school, and I should have a brand new ipod nano in a few weeks!  That's quite a trade!  I joked that the old one is the gift that keeps on giving--Matt surprised me with it on our honeymoon, complete with a scavenger hunt around our condo to find it. :)  Who knew that 8 years later that gift would get us a brand new ipod! :)

BONUS:  Last Sunday our Sunday school class had the sweetest time of praying for several families expecting babies in the next month.  We are SO thankful for them and the community God has given us there--and SO quickly after we moved back to Tennessee.  They also gave us a BEAUTIFUL children's Bible for Lila.  I consider myself pretty up to date on children's Bibles, but I had never seen this one before.  We LOVE it.

BONUS:  One of the DELICIOUS buttermilk biscuits we enjoyed last Friday when Matt and I went out. :)  YUM YUM YUM
