Today marks 8 weeks in this pregnancy. 4 weeks to go until we're more "in the clear." Around that time is when we'll start telling people and you'll find out about this blog. :) Only about 3.5 weeks until our next appointment, and at that point we should be able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. Once the heart is heard with the doppler, the baby's development is far enough along that the risk of miscarriage drops to 5%. We're prayerfully looking forward to that drop, but knowing God has been in control from before this little one's beginning and has all his or her days already numbered and recorded. I'm SO thankful to have a place to set down my worries and TRUST.
This past weekend we went away to the resort where we spent our honeymoon. We actually got to stay in the exact same condo! It was so sweet to be back. :) And God graciously made it a very sick-free weekend (with plenty of time to sleep and nap and a sweet hubby who took me back to rest when I was worn out from exploring the area). I have to say, I haven't really felt like I will be sick, which is huge. I do, however, feel my stomach is very unsettled. That has returned now that we are home. And whew, I don't know if it's the long school day routine of being back now or hormones increasing as the baby grows, but exhaustion really hit afresh today! I can't wait to go to bed, and I spent all afternoon chilling at the house. I leave school right at 2:45 or 3 (we can leave at 2:45) every day. I used to stay until about 4. I'm pretty sure my team mate is wondering what's going on. :) She'll know before too long--and I'm excited to not just seem like a crazy, tired, forgetful teacher once people know WHY I'm crazy, tired, and forgetful. :) I'm also excited about telling my class. They are SO sweet, and I know they will be REALLY excited. I'm just trying to decide how to tell them.
My 2 favorite ideas so far are a kind of hangman/wheel of fortune type of thing. Putting a phrase that announces the baby on the board and the kids can earn a letter or two each day until they figure it out. :) Or, I think around the time I'll probably tell them the baby should be about the size of a lemon. So maybe taking a lemon (or whatever "they" compare the baby's size to at that time) for each group of students and having them brainstorm why I gave them a lemon. Then actually telling them why. I thought that might make it a little more concrete to them.. a baby the size of lemon inside. :) We'll see!
Alright, I am most definitely off to bed. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have energy to make dinner again (I have 2 nights in a row!), tidy up a room in the house, make my costume parade prop for Friday at school, and whatever else needs to be done. :) Today I was not productive--well, except for that whole "growing a person" thing. ;) Brain activity and connections are beginning now--maybe that's why all of my energy and brain power are so sapped! But I'm very thankful for an understanding husband who helps me out!
Love,
Becca + baby
p.s. We really think Samantha knows something is different. She's really clingy and protective and sleeps right on my stomach/side when we're relaxing on the couch (she didn't used to). If only she really knew the changes ahead, huh?! :)
