Weekend Rewind

Friday:  ENJOY the weekend.  I can't say I did too terribly much that evening.  I scrubbed the kitchen floor (the only downside to AR loving to feed herself finger foods is that some inevitably gets on the floor--not because she's flinging it or anything, she is just a very enthusiastic eater... which  means lots of scrubbing) and Anna Reaghan's booster seat.  Washed the dishes.  Read on my kindle.  It was low key.  And before Asa went to bed, he got to see Daddy take the new mow-no out of its box.  Yea!

Saturday:  In the morning, we stayed around the house until after Anna Reaghan's morning nap.  Then we had lunch and packed the kids up to head out.  Matt earned a bonus (woo hoo!  He always works super hard enough to earn one, but isn't it fun when corporate finances allow for monetary compensation of the extra hard work??) and he settled on an ipad as his splurge with part of the bonus.  In browsing apps, he came across some synthesizers and showed videos about them to Asa.  I brought AR downstairs from her nap to Asa excitedly telling me, "We go in Daddy's car to get a pinano pad!" [piano pad]  Matt wanted to go try to decide between an ipad 2 and the new ipad and hopefully come home with one.  He was leaning toward a new one, but by the time he settled on that they sold the last one in stock!  We came back for naps, he researched and compared some more, called a few other stores in town, and then he went back out while kiddos slept.  After talking to a family member pretty disappointed in the battery of the new ipad, Matt excitedly came home with an ipad 2 and a few accessories.  Asa was THRILLED to hear when he woke up that in no time he'd be playing "the bird game." Oh yes, he has seen and played Angry Birds on G-Ma's phone.  We had a nice, family dinner all while answering Asa's repeated questions of, "Do you want to play that wittle computer?"  We did not want to battle the excitement of the ipad right before bedtime, so we told him it had to charge that night but we could try it Sunday after church.  After asking a few more times, he accepted that answer. :)  Saturday night Matt played with his ipad and got it all set up while I sewed a few paci clips and a burp cloth for a friend. :)  I tried using snaps to close the loop instead of velcro, and I really like the clean, professional look they give.

Sunday:  We went to church.  We put AR in the nursery for both services since she is starting to go longer without eating, but I did have to feed her in between services and seeing me apparently made it difficult to be happy during the 2nd hour.  I think we'll stick with keeping her with us for Sunday school a little longer and just take her to the nursery 2nd hour.  Asa got to play the pinano pad :) after lunch, which he was SUPER excited about.  We also downloaded a Kneebouncers app with a train game for him.  And he thinks the characters and sounds of Cut the Rope are hilarious (what is hilarious is hearing him mimic each little sound effect!).  OH the glee on that little boy's face!  Too cute. :)  Asa wanted to help Daddy mow as well, that is until faced with the mower's engine actually starting up.  Then he decided to sit in Daddy's car and watch. %-)  He is in a pretty fearful stage right now. :(  He screams and sobs and covers his ears if he hears any neighbors with yards joining ours outside mowing. :(  He LOVED mowers last year!  So he loves our new mower as long as it's off and he is just pushing it back and forth in the garage. :)  We had a huge meltdown at dinner over the pinano pad.  It is definitely a "weekends only" treat for Asa, in case you were wondering.  And thankfully, he hasn't asked for it even once yet today!  It will be out of reach, out of sight, and hopefully out of mind for him Monday-Friday with limited, parent-controlled and -supervised time on weekends.  Not only should that help our sanity, but hopefully it will keep it as an extra special activity.
