Easter: He is risen!

We had a sweet Easter weekend remembering and celebrating Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

Saturday:  Asa woke up seeming fine Saturday morning but that quickly changed.  He was in the midst of ipad revelry when suddenly nothing pleased him and he turned white as a sheet.  I grabbed the thermometer and he had a fever (and NO color whatsoever).  He wouldn't even hold his head up and just leaned it on the couch armrest where he was sitting.  It was so sad!  He really looked like he was going to be sick. :(  We turned on some Lightning McQueen action to distract him and waited.  He ate a few crackers, and then I gave him some Tylenol after he kept the crackers down.  He never did get sick, praise the Lord!  About 30 minutes after he had the meds, he perked right up!  His color returned, he asked for breakfast, and he returned to more of his usual chatty self.  And that was the end of that!  We kept things low key though, not knowing what had been going on in the morning.  After dinner, both kids had baths (and both liked them--that's three in a row AR hasn't cried through!!), and then after Anna Reaghan was in bed we made special bread with Asa.  We made resurrection rolls with crescent rolls and marshmallows.  He helped us roll each bread up and we talked about Jesus being in the tomb like the marshmallows were in the bread.  I told him the next morning we could have the bread with breakfast and see if the marshmallows were still there. :)  After the kids were in bed, I sewed a few more paci clips for the fundraiser next weekend and then assembled the kids' Easter baskets and a few eggs for Asa to hunt for.  I printed off the verses I posted earlier and made some eggs with candy, some with change, and some with just the verse about Jesus being ALIVE!

Sunday:  I went to AR first and fed her.  Then she and I went to wake up Daddy.  And then we went to wake up Asa.  Last year he was just about 100% on responding, "He is risen indeed."  This year, you can tell something big happened last summer ;), because at least 50% of the time he answers, "He is risen in... July!"  The next thing he asked me was if we could go see the bread and the marshmallows--before I even had him out of his crib!  So we came downstairs and I cut open one of the rolls.  The roll was empty just like the tomb that Easter morning!  Praise the Lord!  Asa "got" it, and it was so sweet to see his excitement and hear him tell Daddy all about it!  We went to worship at our church, and then came home for lunch together as a family and to give the kids their Easter baskets.  Asa LOVED the plastic bugs I found at Target's dollar spot.  Love love loved.  It was adorable to watch him playing with them. :)  After lunch there was just a short time to play before rest time.  Matt napped most of rest time while I organized some embroidery files on the computer and rested.  Before we got Asa up, Matt hid 10 eggs in the front yard.  We prepped Asa on what to do, and out we went.  He was SO cute.  His eyes were HUGE and his face just lit up every time he spotted an egg.  He looked very carefully and found all 10--even a few more tricky ones!  We plopped the kids on the front step to attempt a sibling Easter picture.  I took over 100, and there are some great ones of AR and some great ones of Asa and 1 or 2 where they are both semi looking at the camera and smiling. :)  But that's something!  We went back inside and Matt played with the kids while I finished off dinner.  After we ate, there was time for more playing before bed.  It was a sweet day, and even though we missed our TN and SC families, I'm very thankful for my family of four and our risen Lord!

We hope you also had a joyous celebration of our Savior, Redeemer, and Rescuer, Christ Jesus!

(don't be fooled... he LOVED these plastic bugs)

(I have to admit, we don't "do" the Easter bunny, but I could not resist this photo op!
The ears + the "tail" (a hair bow) were too good to pass up!)

Still love these pictures. :) I'm so glad AR finally likes to have a bath. YAY! :) It sounds like you had a wonderful Easter. Had to chuckle at He is risen in July. :)
