Want to pretty up and protect your Kindle Touch? Then enter this giveaway! :)
I was able to test a new tablet cover pattern for my friend Harmony at Sew in Harmony. She originally designed the cover for her own tablet and then converted the dimensions for many different types of tablets and e-readers. Pretty much, you name it, she worked it out! A stand-out feature of the pattern is removable boards that protect the tablet, help prop it up, AND make the entire cover easily washable!
It was an easy pattern to follow with great visual aides for each step, and you should definitely keep up with Harmony's blog. Not only does she share about her sewing projects and write tutorials, but she also writes about home projects in general like her family command center. We were blessed to know Harmony and her family when we lived in Florida, and it's fun to keep up with her on her blog and share crafty adventures. :) Harmony's plan is to make the tablet cover pattern available for purchase, so if you are looking for something very practical and functional to protect your device, check back with her blog!

Ready for the giveaway?
Matt bought me a cover for my Kindle Touch for Christmas, so the cover I made testing Harmony's pattern is up for grabs!
I recycled a pretty blue-gray linen for the outer fabric. It originally came from a pair of pants that just don't hang right/long enough post-baby. :) When I decided I didn't like how they hung, I immediately knew I needed to add them to my up/recycle stash! This is their first recreation! I used some blue with white polka dot cotton for most of the interior (two different shades of blue with one panel of green polka dot on one of the board liners thrown in for whimsy).
(in full disclosure, the bottom front corner isn't the optimal smooth curve I wanted it to be as I had a snafu in putting the inside and outside together. NOT a fault of the pattern at all. Just the fault of a sleepy mommy who got mixed up and clipped corners before checking everything ;) )
See those panels on the left side? They hold the removable, lined boards! There is one behind the Kindle, too. They provide stiffness/protection, but are easy to take out so you can wash the cover if you spill something or set it in something. Clever!
This function is more applicable to tablets like iPads, but it's nice for the children's ebooks I download to share with Asa. The Kindle slides in and out so easily but stays securely in place unless you remove it. Harmony did a great job designing the cover.

The Kindle touch is NOT part of the giveaway. ;) But if you would like to enter to win the cover and live in the US lower 48 states, just leave me a comment about your favorite book (or if you're like me, one of your favorite books.. I can never pick just one!)! That's it! Tell me what your favorite book is and why, and you'll be entered. You have until Thursday, March 22, 2012 (1 week!) at noon EST to enter the giveaway. One winner will be selected at random and announced Thursday evening!
Happy reading! :)
