All About Me

All About Me

A friend I went through my ECE program with from college, Alissa, tagged me in an "All About Me" blogger game.  So here you go. :)  Alissa has a little boy about 6 months younger than Asa and a little girl about a month younger than Anna Reaghan.  She blogs faithfully every day (or very close to that!)!  She still lives in Tennessee, but in West Tennessee.  I think it would be so fun to be in Knoxville at the same time so she and her kids could join our ECE friends get togethers. :)

Here are the rules:

1.  You must post the rules and link up who tagged you.
2.  Post eleven fun facts about yourself.
3.  Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
4.  Tag eleven as many people as you want and link them on your post.
5.  Let them know you've tagged them!

Eleven Fun Facts:

1.  When I am eating things like M&Ms, I like to eat them in pairs.  It bothers me if there is an "odd" piece left over.
2.  I had my heart set on teaching kindergarten or first grade, but I grew to LOVE third grade.  Such a fun age!
3.  I never ever thought I would live in Florida or Ohio.  I also had my heart set on living in my hometown.  Ha!
4.  I {heart} Pinterest.
5.  Since we moved to Ohio we have worked through (on dvd) the entire series of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Everwood, and we're working on Gilmore Girls.  Then the Christy series is next (awww, yeah).
6.  I haven't had my hair cut in a salon since the summer before our wedding.  That's summer 2005, folks.  If Anna Reaghan will ever stretch out some feedings, I am long overdue for a Saturday at the salon. ;)  [Matt trims it for me.... I haven't left it growing out the past 6+ years!]
7.  I have been a minivan momma for 6 months now, and I still LOOOVE it!
8.  I don't care for yogurt.  I think it's the tangy-ness.
9.  I still have Valentine's Day decor up around the house.... I think I need to switch it out for some GREEN now that it's March.
 10.  This isn't about me, but today Asa told me he and Anna Reaghan are best friends.  Well, he told Sammy Dog he was best friends with HER first.  But he DID say he was best friends with Anna Reaghan, too. :)
11.  With a nursing baby who wakes at night, I find myself going through cycles of time with more energy and then some with less energy at a day's end.  Right now, I'm in a less energy phase.  Like, "Oh man, I have to wash the dishes and put away the leftovers.  Booo!" then after I do that I collapse on the couch.  I always start the day with grand intentions to work on craft projects in progress, but they dissolve into thin air once the kids are in bed.  Energy, come back!

1.  What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?  Mint chocolate chip.  Mmmmm... it will be such a happy day when I can eat ice cream again.  I know I'll have to work up to it and can't just jump straight into something that rich when I start eating dairy again.
2.  How many children do you have/plan on having?  We have 2 children right now; 2.5 year old Asa and a 7 month old Anna Reaghan (well she's 8 months next week, but I don't like to round up!).  :)  While we have talked about tentative "numbers," our bottom line has been to pray about our family at each step of the way and follow God's direction one baby at a time.  We will ALWAYS be thankful for whatever children God gives us.  That being said and while we're completely in love with Asa & Anna Reaghan, we can see ourselves with one or maaaaybe two more (2 more starts to feel like probably pushing it as we seriously lean toward home schooling).  Only God knows what our family will look like in the end--maybe we're already "there," or maybe there are other little people for us to know and love.
3.  What do you do for a living?  I am a former elementary school teacher now stay at home mom.  I have taught kindergarten and third grade and provided tutoring and private teaching during my teaching years, but I've been home full time since May 2009.
4.  Are you a coke or diet coke person?  Neither!  If you MADE me choose, I'd choose Coke.  But caffeine is a migraine trigger for me, so I cut it out a long time ago and only have the very occasional sip (we're talking a sip 1-2 times max in a year, but usually not at all).  I pretty much just drink water.
5.  Where did you go to college and what was your major?  I attended the University of Tennessee and  majored in child development with early childhood education licensure.
6.  What is your biggest fear?  Gut level response:  that something will happen to me before my children are old enough to know me/remember me and how much I love them... and I would  miss out on watching them grow up and nurturing them to adulthood.  Big picture bottom line response:  that my children will not submit to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  How fervently we pray for their precious little hearts!
7.  What is the last book that you read?  I just finished reading The Secret Garden and it was DELIGHTFUL!  I highly recommend it, and I love revisiting the classics. :)
8.  If you could leave for a trip tomorrow, where would you want to go?  Either home to East Tennessee OR meet my family at the beach (Hilton Head, in particular).  I am excited that BOTH of those trips are planned for this year!
9.  Why did you start your blog?  To keep up with family and friends after we married and moved away.
10.  Did you go to prom?  If so - describe your dress!  My dress was a royal blue sleeveless satin dress with sparkles on the bodice and a fuller skirt.
11.  What is your favorite holiday?  I think Christmas is my favorite because we get to spend extra time with family, too. :)  I dread ever coming to a decision that we're not going home for Christmas.  We don't go for Easter and we're almost there with Thanksgiving. :(

11 Questions:
