9. Finding a Silver Lining
Today my mom is headed back to Tennessee after coming to visit for my 30th birthday. I'm not exactly (or particularly) thankful that she's headed home. BUT I can find things to be thankful for in the midst of missing her. I am thankful that she wanted to come for my birthday and that she was able to come for my birthday (my dad was okay with sharing her for another weekend, winter weather did not prevent her from coming, everyone is healthy enough for her to make the trip). My being sad and missing her today is a sign MOM WAS HERE. And THAT is something I am VERY thankful for. I am thankful I hopefully will see her again in 6 weeks to celebrate Christmas. I could grumble that those 6 weeks feel awfully long right not, but I will instead be thankful it's 6 weeks and not 8 or 12 weeks. :) I could dread going up to get Asa out of bed because I know he will not be happy G-Ma isn't here this morning, or I can be thankful he loooooves G-Ma SO SO much! And that God has abundantly provided sweet, precious relationships between my children and our extended family that I feared would be difficult to form since we live out of state (and all the other grands live in the same town as their grandparents).
Here's to gratitude and finding the silver living.
