Weekend Rewind

We had a great weekend!  I LOOOVED the beautiful weather.  It was such a nice treat to spend time outside and soak it up!

Saturday:  We went to Nickajack Farms in the morning to visit their pumpkin patch/fall festival activities.  We took lots of pictures (post to come this week), checked out the corn and pumpkins, played in "gourdville," on a tractor playground, and visited the petting zoo. We ran out of time (kids have to eat, after all!) before we even got on the hayride to pick out pumpkins!  We hope to go back and do just the hayride/pumpkin picking one weekend soon.  We loved that it was more laid back and slower paced than the farm we visited last year--very family friendly, much less crowded, and more to do.  We are excited to go back again!  After lunch, Asa took a looooong nap (yea for time playing outside wearing out a sweet little boy) from which we had to wake him up!  We were meeting friends at a park to play.  Anna Reaghan and I visited with the ladies while Asa and Matt played with the guys.  Asa LOVED it.  He loves being outside.  The park has a pond with ducks and geese (or "gooses") that DELIGHTED Asa.  We chased them all around (holding hands because of the nearby water) and Asa called out over over, "I following!" to tell the geese he was following them. :)  He loved to walk along the edge of the pond because the duck and geese at the water's edge would all jump into the water as he approached.  He thought that was hilarious. :)  Matt grilled burgers for dinner while I gave Asa a quick bubble bath.  Asa decided he wanted to try a "hang-a-ber" for the first time and ate about 1/3 of it?  He's not been big on meat lately, so it came as quite a surprise to us!  Saturday during nap time, Matt found some hunting clothes he's been shopping for and during the end of nap and in the evening after Asa's bedtime, I worked on Anna Reaghan's fall outfit (to match Asa's).

Sunday:  We went to church in the morning.  After our class, I got to chat with a lady who was visiting with her husband and 10 month old daughter--she was really sweet.  I hope they come back!  After church we tied our decorative cornstalk to the light post by the front door and trimmed the bushes along the front sidewalk.  Asa tried to eat the corn on the cornstalk a few times, so we promised him corn on the cob with dinner as a deterrent. :)  We ate lunch and then got the kids down for naps.  I got to sew more and just need to add the waist elastic to AR's pants and embroider Asa's shirt.  Then their matching outfits will be complete!  After nap time, we changed Asa to swim trunks and had our first family car wash.  He was very excited to help "give the van a bath."  He was the official hose holder, believe it or not, and he did a great job!  He even rinsed the wheels for us at the end all by himself!  I made a new recipe for dinner that had a delicious fall flavor to it, and then we settled in for the evening. :)

Our beautiful weather is supposed to hold out for a few more days.  I am sure we'll be trying to squeeze in some walks or more playground time to take advantage of it!

Thank you, Lord, for the perfect weather and fun times as a family and with friends!
