I thought I'd make a little bulleted list of Asa at 3 months like I did at 2 months. To be fair, this is actually Asa at 15 weeks... but we'll count it anyway. ;)
Asa now:
- REALLY rolls from back to tummy or vice versa at will. He had "done" it before, now it's a regular, many times a day occurrence. Not only that, but he can roll over and over in quick succession. One day a week or two ago, I set Asa down on a blankie in the living room and stepped into the kitchen to grab my lunch. By the time I came back moments later, he was on the OTHER side of the room! He's FAST.
- can hold things with his hands. At pretty much every diaper change, he holds and plays with the miniature rattle version of his Snoodle dog (from his weekly growth pictures)
- loves to stuff his fist in his mouth :)
- has mastered getting his thumb in his mouth
- no longer sleeps with a sleep positioner
- no longer sleeps swaddled
- wore a sleep sack for the first time (thanks, Trudi and Jessica!) last night because it was a little chilly
- has found his legs... as in, loves to lift them up and slam them down :) this also led to the back to stomach roll. He is very playful with his legs
- has added a few new sounds to his babbles and gurgles. His latest favorite is an ooooo that reminds me of a German vowel--it should have an umlaut over it the way he says it and forms his lips to say it.
- he loves to make sounds by breathing IN... kind of like a little kid who first learns to "whistle" by breathing in.... he can't really talk so he'll "talk" by breathing in and making sounds
- giggles and LAUGHS. He not only laughs in response to physical stimuli (zerberts and tickles along his right lower ribs), he laughs in response to silly faces and sounds we make. I LOVE it! He has even laughed in response to us laughing. His giggle is the sweetest, and his belly laugh is hilarious.... huh huh huh :)
- has a bedtime routine. We change into pjs and get a clean diapy, then we read three books. The first one is a Bible book. Right now we're reading First Steps in the Bible. It has Scripture-based poems. We read half of them one night and half the next night, then repeat. The middle book rotates every few weeks. Right now it's Good Night, God. I always end with Sandra Boynton's Snuggle Puppy, which I sing to him. :) All the while, he is cuddled up with his hoot owl in my lap. Then I feed him to top him off and sing him hymns and worship songs while he eats. I start with Joshua 1:9, and I always finish with Jesus Loves Me.
- Started sleeping "through the night" (pediatrician definition is 12-5). He goes to bed at 7 and sleeps (except for the growth spurt we're in the midst of) til 12 or 1. I feed him then, and he sleeps til 5:30 or 6:30 AM. Then I wake him up at 8:30. He is doing an amazing job of going right back to sleep after a night feeding. He might let out a fuss or two, but as soon as he's in the crib, he rolls to his side, holds his hands :), and eventually rolls to his tummy. Then he is OUT. :)
- started sleeping longer because he learned to soothe himself to sleep. AMAZING. So good for all of us. :)
- when he rolls from his back to his stomach, he can push up and get his arms out from under him to hold his head and shoulders/chest up off the floor
- started having a good, solid morning nap, other naps are catching up some :) From what I've read, he's right on target though
- was baptized on Sept. 20
- met Auntie Lakey
- met his cousin, Izzy
- got to see Nana and Poppy again for the first time since he was born
- made his first trip to TN and met Uncle Brad, Auntie Joy, sister, brother, Uncle Matt, Auntie A, and Sam, not to mention Lois, Rebecca, Uncle Ben, Pastor Alan, Lucy, Ruth, Nate, Lu, and many more :)
- decided MAYBE the car isn't always QUITE so awful after all (after his 10 and 11 hour rides to/from TN)
- plays with his Baby Einstein ocean play mat and can grab the octopus, rings, and fishy
- has longer hair
- went to women's Bible study with mommy fior the first time
- took a full feeding from a bottle for the first time (and did great). My stash of pumped milk was a huge blessing on the car trip. :)
- visited Daddy at work again :)
- a doctor appt. this Thursday for his next vaccine
- his 4 month photo shoot with Miss Shelli
- celebrating our 4th anniversary
- going to a pumpkin patch
- going to our church's fall festival. He is going to be the CUTEST. Stay tuned. :)
- maybe getting to go to Mommy and Daddy's community group (Bible study)
- maybe getting to have friends over for dinner
- maybe even going out to an early dinner with Mommy and Daddy
