1. We woke up to more snow! Just a little dusting, but I was expecting rain/slush so it was a surprise to look out the window and see huge white flakes floating down from the sky. Asa was excited. :)
2. This morning Asa helped me make some extra special muffins. For my birthday, Asa picked out some molded silicone muffin tins--Christmas trees, gingerbread men, and snowflakes. In honor of the weather today, we filled the snowflake molds with blueberry muffins. We made some Christmas trees, too, because we had more batter. Judging by his response, I think they get two thumbs up (he ate 4. Disclaimer: they're not as big as regular muffins).
3. As I think I've mentioned, Asa is not so sure about this whole "dark" thing at bedtime. So we have taken to talking about happy things he can think about while he is in bed and waiting to fall asleep (and we pray over him for his head and his heart to be filled with sweet things while he waits and while he dreams). He has taken this routine and RUN with it. If you are a frazzled mom and you start to leave his room without asking him to tell you "three happy things," you will hear about it... loudly. I love that he is comforted by this idea enough to initiate it on his own AND he's starting to think of his own "happy things" instead of relying upon us for ideas or repeating things we've thought of previous nights. My two most recent favorites: "I sink [think] about...... STICKS!" Oh yes, he's all boy. ;) And our second favorite is, "I sink about....... boppy! Boppy pillow!" Why in the world he chose Anna Reaghan's boppy nursing pillow as a happy thing, I do not know. My best guess is that we have a cover that has cupcakes all over one side and sprinkles all over the other.... and Asa is a big fan of sprinkles.
4. Asa turned 31 months old this week. That means he will be THREE in five months. That seems impossible. I asked Matt if he can believe he's been a dad for THREE years (counting the pregnancy). The answer is, of course, no! How is time passing so quickly??!? :(
5. I am about to embark on a few more projects utilizing my Silhouette machine. I'm just waiting on an order of vinyl to arrive. Yippee! I'll be sure to share when they're done. :)
