Watch Me Pack

I decided packing up our entire house is too much work not to document it for later reflection. I mean, seriously, I'm packing an almost 1800 square foot house with a very mobile 10-11 month old underfoot! I need to record this for posterity!

Here is my to do list. Items that are blue are complete.

1. Master bedroom: Framed pictures on wall (3?), bedding, dresser mirror, my shoes/clothes I'm actually wearing the next 2 weeks (pick 2 weeks' worth and finish packing the rest), tape under-the-bed storage boxes closed, box for lamp and clock.

2. Asa's room: Boxes for diaper changing stuff, changing pad?, framed artwork, and figure out if we are allowed to move baby wash/lotion, etc. and box for moving van. Pick outfits for next 2 weeks and pack the rest, box for lamp, cd player, and clock radio, bedding, pack raccoon beanbag.

3. Guest bedroom: find a box for the items that are out for "staging" purposes and set aside to pack the last week. Pack clothes in guest closet. Check cedar chest and make sure fragile items are wrapped, pack bedding and faux headboard.

4. Master bath: find out if we can move toiletries on the moving van. Pack for van. Pack counter decor (toothbrush holder, etc.).

5. Guest bath: box framed artwork, box hanging shelf, counter decor, and "hot/cold" faucet towel hangers. Toiletries: same as master bath.

6. Linen closet: box everything up. Keep a few things for home selling staging, but go ahead and set aside the box they will go in the last week.

7. Family room: computer cabinet odds and ends, sewing odds and ends (after I sew a carseat carrier bag for our flight), wooden tray, Asa's toys, ask if I need to box fireplace screen, find box for mantel objects to pack the last week (still out for staging purposes), box up books on bookshelf (still out for staging purposes), box for large framed pics, box up games in wooden bench

8.Living room: Find box for items on entertainment center for staging purposes and set aside to pack the last week, find boxes for Tivo, dvd/vcr player, and receiver; find boxes for speakers. --including large one for subwoofer. Find box for lamps and shades (2 each) and mail sorter. Finish packing cabinet of china. Prep boxes for Asa's toys.

9. Dining room: Prep box for things in china hutch that are on display for staging purposes.--still need 1 place setting of china when kitchen is packed. Mirror and framed art boxes. Box for decorative tiles on the wall.

10. Coat closet: Box for gift bags, box up coats and scarves (we'll actually need them in OH!). Ask if vacuum needs a box.

11. Entryway: prep box for items out for staging purposes, including over-the-door artwork and mirror

12. Hallway: boxes for framed pics out for staging purposes (3)

13. Kitchen (cooking area): pack dishes and silverware, spices, baking stuff, cooking utensils, tupperware. Use paper plates, cups. Keep a few forks/knives for cutting Asa's food, go through freezer and give away things we will not eat before we go, box for microwave, decide about toaster oven. Pack pots and pans.  Pack small kitchen appliances

14. Kitchen (eat in area): make sure corner cabinet is cleared out, pack things on cork board, ask if cork board needs a box.

15. Laundry: decide which dry goods to take and which to give to friends, pack odds and ends on shelf, sort through cleaning supplies--give away things that are at least 1/2 empty, move to car staging area things that are unopened, pack iron and Sammy's stuff, make sure everything is in filing cabinet.

16. Garage: drain oil from lawn mower. Set aside a broom and mop for cleaning house after movers leave and for clearing walkway while house is on the market. Get paint cans, wood stain, etc. to county waste transfer station.

17. Lanai: pack decorative items on patio table and the 3 small tool boxes of air compressor tools, pack grill tools & cover, give our propane tank to a friend.

18. Check garden shed to make sure items are ready.

*ask neighbor who mows her yard and arrange to have yard mowed after we're gone
*change of address things
*request med records from midwives for me and vet for Sammy
*call cable company to set up "turn off" date
*go by school to see if I left anything there I want to keep
*ask movers about other thing I need to know if I need boxes for: high chair, ironing board, exersaucer, etc.
*touch up trim in Asa's room where tree was painted
*sand and touch up where gate was installed in the hall and where we installed guest room curtain rod
*if time, whiten kitchen grout with Clorox Greenworks
*buy cheap curtains to put in rooms so I can take mine with me.
*get Matt's old power cords to someone from his old work
*think through what needs to go in the car with Matt and set it aside
*make Asa's carseat carrier bag for flight (go to Joann's, buy fabric, sew, repack sewing machine)

And don't forget other fun jobs like:

*Asa's weight check
*Asa's metabolic geneticist specialist appointment
*rearrange furniture per Realtor's suggetions
*pressure wash sidewalk per Realtor's suggestion
*buy plug-ins per Realtor's suggestion
*move all packed boxes to closets or garage for home staging purposes
*pack Asa and Sammy up at a moment's notice for house showings
