2 Month Check Up

Today you had your 2 month check up, and it was GREAT! Actually, it was a huge answer to prayer in many ways. :)

We were trying a new pediatrics practice (for a number of reasons). From start to finish, it was a completely different experience than the other practice. The receptionist could not have been more kind, the nurse talked and worked with Asa in a friendly, child-appropriate manner, and the doctor herself was incredibly personable. Wow. What a difference. :)

The nurse weighed and measured you. You are 24 and 3/8" long--that's the 95th percentile! We knew you were our L-O-N-G boy. :) I was hoping and praying you'd be in the high 9s for you weight, and you were 10 lbs (20th percentile)! PRAISE THE LORD! The pediatrician had no concerns about your weight (again, what a difference!). She said you are a tall boy :), totally on track developmentally, and must not be hungry if you're going up to 3 hours between feedings during the day and even some 4-5 hour stretches at night. Mommy was SO thankful this doctor is looking at the big picture of your health, and not just hassling us over you not gaining the picture perfect 1 oz. per day. You are totally within the normal range and doing GREAT! You even smiled at her right off the bat--you must have known this doctor was going to be a lot different. :) And your head has caught up with the rest of you--it is now in the 50th percentile (it was 25th for most of the pregnancy). :)

We are spacing out vaccines (and skipping some you shouldn't be exposed to as a breastfed baby with a stay at home mom), so we just started with one today that was a dead virus vaccine for meningitis. If we followed the schedule, you would have received 6! Whew! You handled it pretty well. You were mostly distraught over missing your entire nap. We'll space the rest of this series out so you only have to have 3 shots for it instead of 4. Cool, huh?

Now it's the weekend and we get to spend it with Daddy! Hooray for a great start to the weekend. And PRAISE THE LORD!
